I woke up this morning and checked the news and couldn't stop myself from having my faith shook just a little bit. The level of absurdity keeps rising and yet... and yet this is where we live and I can't deny this place.

I can't help but think back to the last election- all of us in the room crowded around that little t.v. trying hard to believe that Bush was getting reelected. We found it hard to believe that things could get much worse and yet... this is where we are. 3 years since Katrina and not enough is being done to rebuild and heal. We're still in Iraq and Afghanistan and pressing forward into our next conquests while the death tolls keep rising and resentment against us builds. People are out of work and underpaid. The world is melting.

These are hard and strange times.
